Broward County Mediation

“Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. Point out to them how the nominal winner is often a real loser in fees, expenses, and waste of time. As a peacemaker, the lawyer has a superior opportunity of being a good man. There will still be business enough.”  – Abraham Lincoln

Broward County Mediation. Mediation in Florida is a process in which a Florida Mediator, working as a neutral and impartial facilitator, assists people in settling conflicts by improving their communications.  The Florida Mediator listens to the parties’ descriptions of the issues between them, helps the parties to better understand one another, identifies potential solutions, and works to find a mutually agreeable solution outside of the courtroom.

Although Florida Mediators do not decide how people should resolve the legal issues between them, they do help the parties to identify issues and potential solutions, so they will be better equipped to make the best decisions for themselves.

In Broward County, Mediation has successfully helped many people avoid legal fees and potentially unfavorable judgments, by assisting them to resolve disputes before further expenses in litigation are incurred.  When disputed legal issues are settled through mediation, the lawyers’ billing clocks are stopped.  Settling a case avoids the risk of a potentially costly judgment being awarded to the other party if the judge or jury is swayed by their arguments.

Florida Mediators often help people to identify and resolve issues that they may have overlooked. In cases where the support of children is disputed, for example, a certified Florida Family Court Mediator may assist the parents to calculate the child support payments required by Florida law.

In family cases, couples often find that a focused, problem-solving mediation helps them to communicate more effectively.  A South Florida family case mediator should help people minimize unnecessary squabbles so they can resolve important issues.

In Florida, mediation is a confidential process.  Communications by parties in mediation cannot be disclosed in court, or out of court.  Statements made in mediation are confidential, and a party in mediation can caucus privately with the mediator to discuss issues without the other party listening.

If you have a case in court that you would like to resolve outside of the courts, or a dispute that you want to settle prior to going to court, an effective Florida Mediator can help you and the other people in dispute to understand and evaluate your settlement.
